Montreal & Niagara Falls
After a whirlwind trip through Canada, we made it home safe and sound! I did a ton of driving, but I still firmly believe it is a great way to see and experience this country and our neighbor to the north! Below, for your reading pleasure, is my third and final blog.
Enjoy, and hope to see you soon!
MONTREAL
What a wonderful and kid-friendly city! We visited the Montreal Science Centre (Star Wars fans would love the Star Wars Identities Exhibition), the Biodome, Insectarium, Olympic Stadium, Notre-Dame Basilica, Mount Royal (an awesome mountain park in the heart of the city that was designed by the same person - Frederick Law Olmsted -- who designed Prospect Park and Central Park), and St. Joseph Oratory. We also found time to explore Old Montreal and to go swimming daily! Would love to visit again to explore more adult activities -- bars, restaurants and shops -- but, in the meantime, I will hold onto my memories of experiencing the city through a child's eyes.
NIAGARA FALLS
Where do I begin?! The city of Niagara Falls has to be one of the most commercial and "seen better days" places I have ever visited (the American side is even worst), but it is also home to a beautiful and breathtaking natural wonder! We took a Journey Behind the Falls, and visited the Butterfly Conservatory, the Niagara Whirlpool and Skylon Observation Tower. Of course, no trip to Niagara Falls would be complete without taking a ride on the Maid of the Mist, which took us up close and personal with the power and beauty of the Falls! We got wet, but we loved every minute of it!
THE TRIP HOME
We bid a fond farewell to Niagara Falls and began our journey back to Brooklyn.
REFLECTIONS
Traveling alone with two young girls wasn't always easy, but it gave me a chance to communicate and bond with them in ways that isn't always possible when you have school, playdates, activities, and a host of other outside influences! I am truly blessed and I am already looking forward to our next trip together!
Okay, that's it for me -- not as much wit in this last installment, but I hope you enjoyed it nonetheless.
P.S. I hate to admit it, but I miss enjoying lobster so readily and cheaply!
